As the General Counsel, Melissa Palepu supervises the updating and preparing of Wayne County Land Bank policies, programs, procedures and then monitors policy compliance. Melissa also manages the legal aspects of the Land Bank including our Quiet Title Program, Occupied Program, and Nuisance Abatement. Melissa brings extensive litigation experience to the Land Bank after serving seven years of distinguished service as a Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor. Although she was born and raised in northern Michigan, Melissa has been a Wayne County resident for over ten years. After graduating from the University of Michigan, she moved to Detroit for law school. While attending University of Detroit Mercy School of Law she was a member of Law Review, Moot Court Board of Advocates, and American Inns of Court.
She and her family enjoy all that Wayne County has to offer: museums, sporting events, and the largest island park in the United States – Belle Isle.
